Central Committee Meeting

MINUTES
OPENING
The meeting was called to order by Chair, Jo Davis
Flag Salute was elegantly introduced and led by Greg Riojas.
The Invocation was given by Cecil Johnston.
Guests from Fifth District, Debbie Hogue-Downing, Chair and Miguel Medrano, Vice-chair
were introduced and invited to make remarks. Debbie spoke of fund raising and stressed the
current focus for Democrats on the issue of health care. Miguel added that Fifth District could
support our efforts in the health care area with materials for informational meetings, etc.
REPORTS
Treasurer – Beginning balance of $3,187.92, deposits of $110, PO Box expense of $70 leavesbalance to date of $3,227.92. Report was approved as read by Treasurer, Cole Koszara.
Minutes – The minutes of the Pottawatomie County Convention held April 4, 2009 wereapproved as read by Cathy Goodine, Secretary. In the future, the minutes will be emailed to
everyone prior to next meeting.
Officers’ Planning Meeting – The Central Committee Officers presented a list of suggestedmonthly events to be held throughout the county:
June Juneteenth Parade (Jun 20th – Greg Riojas)
July McLoud Blackberry Festival Parade (July 4th – Cole Koszara)
August Free Sno Cones First Day of School in Asher
September Tecumseh Frontier Days Parade Sep 19th
October Mush Ball Tournament Fundraiser (Date to be Determined)
November Pancake Breakfast Wannette (Date to be Determined)
December Christmas Parade (a suggestion made during today’s meeting)Following discussion, a motion was made to accept these ideas as presented. The motion was
seconded and approved.
DISCUSSIONS
Funding Initiatives/Issues – The purpose of funds raised was discussed; main target would besupport of Democrat Candidates such as arranging forums. It was also mentioned that Democrat
Judges could use our financial support.
Operating Account or Purchase Authority – For simplification of operations, it was suggestedthat either purchases of less than $100 total during any month be allowed without prior executive
approval OR establish an ongoing operations account for small purchases between monthly
meetings.
Monthly Meeting Dates – Following discussion, it was agreed that the Central Committeemeetings would continue to be held on the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. and the
location to remain at TJ’s restaurant in the Cinderella Restaurant on Kickapoo Spur.

Letter writing campaign – The need for submitting letters for publication in newspapers wasdiscussed. A Committee was organized and Donna Schoenkopf was approved as Chairman.
Topic, format and content will be solely the product of the writer. It will be up to each
contributor whether or not they indicate any connection to Pott County Democrats.
NEW BUSINESS
The new website is up and running. Anyone with a website to add to the Links page please
contact Jo Davis via email with that information.
